Jung

Jung’s analytical psychology is what appeals to me the most. His theory of archetypes and dream interpretation is completely fascinating and I have to a large extent used them to interpret dreams with a modest amount of success.

Read "Man and His Symbols" and ALL the books by Marie Louise Von Franz. Best reads-Feminine in Fairy Tales, Interpretation of Fairy tales as well as books by another analytical psychologist whose name I forget- Ego and Archetype.

Jung interpreting art, culture and myths is also awesome…someday…someday…someday…I want to write a story on that…..pref. a graphic one…but sigh!!! Thatz just a dream!

Make sure story has copius amounts of synchronicity (how's that for a plot device?) and maybe the populace in your world could have a truly tangible collective unconscious. how cool would that be? Imagine the Anima and the Animus personified? And of course the much misused Introverts and Extroverts. Stop dreaming, start writing. You, who know and love Jung should.

Jung is where it's at. Because a cigar is just a cigar.

I have always wondered at the deep connection between all the mythology of the world. Jung explains a lot of it wonderfully, look at the creation myths for example.. all the same.. in the Bible, in the Dasha Avatar, in other mythology as well...then if you read, mythology from a remote African village is the same as a roman myth, same as a story from Indian mythology, incest is rampant, isis and Osiris, Brahma and Saraswati, etc etc..endless....Marie Louise had a lot to say on that and makes excellent reading....hmm..so...phew! that is collective unconscious, the anima, animus, shadow and self all begging for a story that combines all world myth...alas! I cannot draw

ah! Yasmin now you're sounding like a Freudian who focuses only on the little "sexual part" of the whole thing. but that's just me thinking out aloud. i needs to pick up that Marie-Louise book. yes i musts. and so what if you cannot draw, write the story, and find a partner in crime to add the illumination. George the Supreeth of geeks-mode is quite good, and you know him.

Shenoy: Nooo!! I do not like Freud!!!...only his theory of the unconscious....not his psychosexual stages and dream interpretation theory...(ugh)

I meant to say that it is very interesting to see the parallels….nothing sexual implied….just why every myth seems to carry the same message….you may find it a bit hard to get hold of Marie Louise's books coz Shambala Publications do not print them anymore or something like that….I have a few of her books so you are welcome to read them.

Yep..let me get down to writing the book and then perhaps bully George into illustrating...( eeps..G, hope you are not reading this :P )

Jellic: Yep they are father and daughter and husband and wife

I've tried bullying George before. The man is a magpie. But you will get a few good pages out of him at least!
